A friend wrote me about her dilemma. She owns a company employing hundreds of people and is a staunch critic of that-which-shall-not-be-named. She said she has been trying to fly under the radar until sanity is restored, but with looming mandates for large employers, the radar will soon turn on her. What will she do? […]

This is the story of an idyllic German ecovillage known as the ZEGG[1] and its infiltration by a dangerous cult named Go&Change. It’s also a story about sexual abuse and two dead children. It’s often thought that clean energy represents a transition from cheap, abundant fossil fuels to expensive, scarce renewables. In this analysis, we will explore how this fear has it exactly backwards: in reality, the clean energy disruption will usher in a fundamental transformation in the way we produce energy, one that can revolutionalize the specific energy and labour relations that have historically generated episodes of resource scarcity under fossil fuels. In part 1, we saw how the fear that mineral shortages will derail the clean energy disruption is largely unfounded, and that while the risk exists, it can be mitigated

Decarbonizing the global economy at first glance looks like an overwhelming task, given that greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions come from everywhere – every product, technology, industry, service, and sub-sector. That’s because the bulk of emissions – over 90% – can actually be grouped around 3 major sectors: energy, food, and transportation. This insight is crucial: it means that rather than a ‘whack-a-mole’ or ‘all of the above’ strategy
