@balajis One might imagine that all of these are the result of a deeper problem and this is why they are curiously bound.

@JoshuaF03588661 @ThouArtThat The politicians are to a meaningful extent bought. But that is only a minuscule piece of the problem.

@ThouArtThat In my sense, thought experiments are fully worthwhile, but it seems important to consider whether the current “collective intelligence” of the polity could get close to considering, much less actualizing, such a proposal. And, if it could, that *this fact alone* is what matters.

@bonnittaroy @owocki @paulg @TheAnnaGat @danielschmach @NateHagan It seems that this chart accounts for this.

@owocki @paulg @TheAnnaGat @danielschmach @NateHagan Two basic things. 1. In order to do this right, we have to be able to do a full accounting across all characteristics (ie is CO2 going down externalizing elsewhere like say heavy metals or freshwater depletion)? And in detail all the way down the full supply chain.

@owocki @paulg @TheAnnaGat @danielschmach @NateHagan For that reason. The big picture is that lacking #1 and the ability to coordinate all choices within a generative whole system structure, the argument from evolution doesn’t close at a species wide level. We have a few years left to fund out.

@owocki @paulg @TheAnnaGat @danielschmach @NateHagan With out that, we are largely rubbing blind and at the mercy of various biases, incentives, etc. 2. The basic principle appears to be true. Ie that we can use the faculty of imagination to achieve purposes with net net (fully accounted) efficiency. Evolution selected for it

@CamoDiver @johnrobb Yes, to my sense of things this will almost certainly be the trajectory.
