I spent most of my life looking for the school that didn’t exist. Nine years spread across three universities only confirmed that the challenges humanity faces will not be addressed within them — though they can play a role if something new was born.
Right now, our team is manifesting the Design School for Regenerating Earth that we aspire to become a vital piece of the new educational tapestry. It grows out of three years after founding Earth Regenerators as a global community of people who (a) get the seriousness of our planetary predicament; and (b) want to help heal people and landscapes in different parts of the world.
This short video explains how we envision the design school as a blending of online learning activities together with real on-the-ground work. We are creating a blend of three kinds of activities that make this possible.
Learning journeys function similar to other online courses as weekly webinars, community calls, and supportive educational resources.
Design Labs arise to tackle real-world challenges and work together to solve them.
Bioregional Activations are immersive experiences into landscapes to help catalyze community processes and support their regenerative efforts.
We know that the only way to learn how to regenerate the Earth IS TO REGENERATE THE EARTH! There is no separation of theory from practice. People gather online to connect and share with each other. And they gather on the ground around landscape challenges that combine cultural and ecological elements.
Some of you may be familiar with the work we have been doing since 2020 to regenerate an entire 500,000 hectare bioregion in Barichara, Colombia. Part of the design school will be to learn from this ongoing and highly complex effort. A local effort is underway to establish the Barichara Ecoversity that will serve as an exemplar of bioregional learning centers for other landscapes that are not as far along.
We have already made trips to four bioregions in the Central Rockies of Colorado and are about to journey to the Great Lakes to engage with different communities in Ohio, Ontario, and New York. These bioregional activations will become a core feature of the design school as we weave a tapestry of bioregions around the world.
If you would like to learn how to regenerate landscapes, this is the design school for you. We have a price structure that is easy to afford:
A monthly option that gives full access to learning resources and ongoing activities for $50 per month.
A yearly option at a discounted rate for $500 per year.
A scholarship fund will also be set up at the time of enrollment for those who would like to make a $500 donation to support another student. This will enable us to offer the design school to all who are passionate to join.
