Tip for getting kids to learn languages early: Play them songs in different languages. My 3 year old can now sing songs in 10+ languages, and it’s effortless for him.

P.S. I realize that singing in other languages is not the same as understanding context and grammar, but it does get a child used to hearing and pronouncing new things, as well as the embodied experience that he *can* speak other languages – that it isn’t hard.

Kids don’t need “kids songs”. My 3 year old loves bosa nova, jazz, metal, rock, electronica, gospel, shamanic drumming, world folk of all sorts, and lots more. He often picks up complex rhythms better than me, and I have a decade of music school under my belt.

1. People outsource X to new tech 2. People’s capacity to do X themselves atrophies 3. The tech gets co-opted or stops working 4. People can no longer do X When X is a fundamental thing like thinking, community, health, or reproduction, the results can be catastrophic.
