Our friends at r3.0 are hosting a conference on “Collapse Resilience” this year. As part of the build-up to their event, they are holding dialogues about important topics that prepare the field for what is going to happen in September.I was asked if I could give a talk about Tipping Points of the Earth System to frame what it means to be in planetary collapse right now. You will really enjoy watching the video — especially for the discussion that took place afterwards between Bill Baue, Ralph Thurm, and myself. This was followed by a second session on Positive Tipping Points of the Earth

People Need Peopleto-gather. (photo n.bateson)Nora Bateson 2022“We have been lost to each other for so long. My name means nothing to you. My memory is dust. This is not your fault, or mine.” — Anita Diamant, The Red Tent.Of all the necessities to human life: water, air, food, shelter — probably the most important is being in relationship with each other. We are furless, clawless and fang-less. We move more slowly than other creatures on our two feet instead of four, and the need for emotional and intellectual stimulation is physiological. Without each other our ancestors would have been cold, defenseless and unwell. In short, People Need People.

Unless this is the first time you have stumbled across this blog by accident, you might have come across the idea of “the Wiki”. This usually does not refer to The Big Wiki but to the Cynefin one, which is a labour of love by many in the community and an attempt to ensure openness, authenticity, and rigour for the Cynefin framework and the methods that are associated with it. Today, my mental journey started on this wiki, specifically the “Glossary” section, where translations for critical terms are crowdsourced in several languages (ten and counting at the time of writing).
