Onboarding New Team Members

Onboarding is one of the most important phases of a collaborative relationship. Putting care into how you integrate someone into a team can be the difference between many months of struggle or lovely humming success.

Recently we welcomed two new members to our team, and here are some tips from our onboarding process:
✔️ Make sure your organisation’s knowledge is written down for new members to digest. (eg. your handbook)
✔️ Spend time introducing new members to the internal systems.
✔️ Have a list of simple tasks for the new member to complete (include it in your task management tool) eg, ‘learn how to use our digital tools’
✔️ Fill in a Team User Manual (read more about it in our article)
✔️ Make team building time a priority
✔️ Review progress regularly and finish the onboarding time with a feedback session and celebration.
