Excellent and insightful article. Civil disobedience is a valid strategy, but I think XR would be misguided to rely on it for all the reasons you cite. An additional reason is that when it was used in the past, in the US civil rights protests, for example, the movements demands were within the power of the government to deliver. But action on climate change is not. No single government can act alone. So XR above all needs to complement civil disobedience with coherent POLITICAL strategy that is democratic, powerful, global and yet capable of taking everyone with them. For example, they might do well to take a closer look at www.simpol.org
