Marx famously remarked at the opening of his comments on the 18th Brumaire of Louis Bonaparte (Napoleon III) that Hegel allegedly said that “all world-historic facts and personages appear, so to speak, twice. He forgot to add: the first time as tragedy, the second time as farce.” Communism, as the Iron Law of Woke Projection maintains, is both tragedy and a complete farce, usually all at the same time. In this episode of my subscribers-only podcast, James Lindsay OnlySubs, I’m doing another Book Club episode featuring Frank Dikotter’s Mao’s Great Famine to give an illustrative example: the farcical tragedy of the Ming Tombs Reservoir. Join me to learn more about how much Communism sucks.
