Our sacred journey through the Colorado River Basin has brought us all the way to Hoover Dam — and soon we will arrive at the Sea of Cortez in Mexicali. Along the way, we have held meetings with many people who care deeply for the rivers that flow into the Colorado. We passed through Cortez and met with a group of amazing regenerative practitioners who have devoted themselves to various parts of the San Juan River. It was inspiring to learn about their ecological knowledge, educational activities with children, and deep connections with local landscapes.Every time this happens, we explore how a local

It is really something to experience a tapestry of landscapes by the way a river runs through them… bringing water-giving life everywhere it flows. We are on a sacred journey following the Colorado River from its birthplace high in the Rocky Mountains all the way to where it no longer runs into the Sea of Cortez in Mexico. As we travel from place to place, we feel the great weaving of landscapes made possible by this incredible tapestry of living communities. In this blog post, I want to share some of the magnificence that can be found when two great rivers meet each

Imagine if regenerative efforts were organized around major landscape systemsTwo days ago, we visited where the Colorado River is born, as we embarked on a journey from headwaters in the Rocky Mountains to the Sea of Cortez. Our mission is to seed the dream of regeneration for the entire Colorado River Basin.Yesterday we traveled through changing landscapes of incredible beauty — tracking the river to feel with our bodies how it flows down from the mountains toward the deserts below.A hundred miles from where it began, the Colorado River is already a massive flow of waterWe are on a tour of “bioregional activation” to carry

Yesterday we visited the birthplace of the mighty Colorado River… high up in Rocky Mountain National Park where it begins at La Poudre Pass. We came here with a sacred mission: To feel the life of an entire river from headwaters to the sea and awaken the dream that the entire basin is regenerated in the future. It was incredible to feel the power of the Colorado so close to its origin. We walked onto the Colorado River Trail which begins 7.6 miles from the pass. Even at such close proximity to its beginnings, we could feel the water gushing and churning

When we opened the Design School for Regenerating Earth, our dream was to weave patterns of ecological and social restoration across entire landscapes — until they emerge as continental tapestries of regeneration. Right now this dream is expressing itself around four major regions of the Earth:Cascadia in the northwestern part of North America; The Great Lakes of North America; The “Great Turn” of the Northern Andes in Colombia; andThe Colorado River Basin of the southwest in North America. Our ambitious vision is to activate a Planetary Network of Bioregions with learning exchanges within and between them. This is fundamental to living out The Design Pathway for Regenerating Earth.Right now,
