@cognazor This is my general position, but have been leaning towards public school for my situation in particular, and figure I should invest in it fully Quoted feed from @cognazor Public school vs. homeschool is a distraction. Most of us want human scaled, inherently creative, and socially engaging education for our kids. For some people this can be accessed through public schools with strong parental engagement, and others, homeschooling cooperatives

@cognazor I’m not against homeschooling, but I think this logic is weak. Just by being actively involved / friendly, it’s inevitable that you will have influence if you are also firm in your values. Also, healthy family culture is reinforced by healthy local culture Quoted feed from @TornadoNate Pretty naive IMHO to think you’re going to have an influence as a relative newcomer. The influence is gonna go the other way. Which, ok, that’s how community works. But I’m not living where I do as an influence project. I want to create a robust family culture first

Recently I have taken my kid to t-ball practice and kindergarten orientation at the local rural elementary school, people seemed cool. I am officially public school pilled, low key heavy parent involvement goated, school board, parent coach assistant, and school garden curious

@cognazor When @nealjclark1 is right, he’s right. Public school (at least rurally) is where the localist action’s at, where you put your skin in the game and become a positive influence on the local culture
