Bildung, Self-Development and How we can learn as Society For this edition of our Online Salons, Jascha virtually met the philosopher and philanthropist Tomas Björkman (Founder Ekskäret Foundation). Introducing ideas from the book „The Nordic Secret“, Tomas examines how inner and outer worlds are related and puts forth the idea that “Bildung”, (which roughly translates into self-cultivation or personal development), is one of the cornerstones that have made the Scandinavian countries turn out to be so relatively progressive today. Together they explore the impact of personal development and Bildung on citizens for becoming more cocreative actors in tackling the collective

We need new narratives that are compelling and empowering towards citizens to actively shape and cocreate the future they are striving for. For this edition of our Online Salon, Jascha Rohr virtually meets Roman Huber, the Federal Executive of Mehr Demokratie e.V. April 29, 2020 Having organized numerous Citizen’s Assemblies it becomes clear that we need more education for people to embrace these processes from higher levels of emotional and cognitive complexity. What we are striving for is flipping the incentive structures of governments. They have to earn the reputation and be held accountable for their actions regularly, rather than

We are soon issuing our next study about the design of the climate conferences. This little study is more or less an analysis of the design of the climate conferences as they are now. It is a first approach for our own understanding of how these processes work now, where there are shortcomings and where we can we can introduce cocreative methodologies or even set up an additional cocreative process for climate change on a global level. the Stadtwerkstatt is hosting a space for more than 38 different citizen’s projects  The Institute for Participatory Design has the mandate by the Berlin senate to design and implement a process for these various initiatives. The City Laboratory is a huge experiment, because usually, if you talk about participatory processes in urban planning and urban design, most processes where you participate citizens are designed in a way that each project gets one process. With the City Laboratory we have a space which is only dedicated for urban planning with the only purpose to serve participation and cocreation for city development.

Cocreation nowadays has become a buzzword. So how do we differentiate cocreation on a shallow vs. a deep level? Cocreation Foundation founder Jascha Rohr shares his perspective on cocreation and gives a concrete example of how it is used as a cultural technique. We conducted a process for a large home on the countryside for people with mental and physical disabilities. We were called in for a one week process to develop to design the landscape and the gardens around this compound. We soon noticed in the process with these people that actually they were lacking a sense of purpose
