@martyrmade @dpakman This one hit me particularly hard. Not sure why. I think in part because it was a religious school. Maybe in part because the shooter was a woman. Dunno.

And I’ll say that I’ve historically found @dpakman to be a voice on the left that I recognize from an earlier/saner era. I haven’t checked in w/ him recently, but he has always been great when we’ve interacted 1-1. I’ve recommended him to many seeking adult progressive voices. 🙏

@martyrmade @dpakman I don’t want to speculate on why the tweet exists. But I’d bet it was a bad tweet that came from a strain of progressive thought I deal w often. It’s a pro gun-control view that views “thoughts and prayers” as a way of avoiding gun control. Not litigating that. But that’s my bet.

Let me just also say that I personally don’t know how to grieve these massacres any more. I know they will keep coming. And as a dad, I can’t help but notice that massacres of kids in schools, houses of worship, orphanages, or any place that offers sanctuary just hit me harder.🤷♀️

As I have said in public, I find it EXTREMELY difficult to conceptualize multiple temporal dimensions. Just because I can see that they are there in my model, does not mean I am smart enough to understand their consequences. Sorry to disappoint. Try Itzhak Bars at USC? Be well.
