Yesterday we experienced the feeling of Regenerate Cascadia being born as a social movement in the world. In the photo above, you can see me giving a talk at Lost Valley Educational Center just south of Eugene, Oregon to an audience of 50 people.It was incredible to hold a collective dream for the future of humanity and watch it take root in the hearts of many people at the same time. Many had tears in their eyes. The energy was palpable. Some would say afterwards that they had been waiting for this moment all of their lives. This is only our second stop

This morning I am sitting with the emotions of what it will truly take to regenerate entire continents…Systems of globalized extraction are so pervasive and destructive. They will need to collapse as part of the process. This implies a great deal of suffering and loss that is far from over.Yet in the same process there will be a growing wave of humanity seeking harmony with the Earth. Communities rallying together in service to life. How can the turbulence of such a blend be survived?I sit with this deeply because I know so much about what is happening at the planetary scale.

We are on a sacred journey to awaken the dream of regeneration for the entire Colorado Basin. In the first week, we met with people of the headwaters up in the high mountains of the Rockies. Now we have been invited into council with the people of Grand Junction where the great Gunnison River enters into confluence with the Colorado River.I held a tobacco ceremony to seek guidance from the ancestorsThis is a powerful way to travel — weaving landscapes alongside the water that has been doing so for millennia. We can feel the depths of this way of relating seeping into our bones. The

We are on a sacred journey to regenerate the Colorado River and all of her tributaries across the mountains and deserts of the Southwest. In the last few days, we have visited two major watersheds that provide source waters to this massively important hydrological system. On Monday and Tuesday, we were in the town of Paonia helping weave dialogues about how to regenerate the North Fork of the Gunnison River. This is a landscape made famous by its breath-taking beauty and hard-working farming community.Major rivers that contribute to the main flow of the Colorado RiverWe have been in an active support role

Imagine if regenerative efforts were organized around major landscape systemsTwo days ago, we visited where the Colorado River is born, as we embarked on a journey from headwaters in the Rocky Mountains to the Sea of Cortez. Our mission is to seed the dream of regeneration for the entire Colorado River Basin.Yesterday we traveled through changing landscapes of incredible beauty — tracking the river to feel with our bodies how it flows down from the mountains toward the deserts below.A hundred miles from where it began, the Colorado River is already a massive flow of waterWe are on a tour of “bioregional activation” to carry

On May 19th, we embark upon a life-changing adventure to awaken the dream to regenerate the Colorado River Basin…The Colorado River is probably the most conflicted and challenging body of water in the world. It has a vast networks of dams to control its water flows and generate electricity or food for 30 million human inhabitants. Textbooks present this incredible river system as the standard example for how NOT to manage a river. It was famously divided into promised volumes of water to different states during a record decade of high precipitation. This means it is over allocated and has been since the

The living systems of Earth are already interwoven. This simple truth should have profound consequences for how we as humans organize ourselves across the landscapes of our precious home planet. Yet if you look at most maps created by humans, you will notice how frequently we project our own delusions of separation on the world around us.Political maps exemplify what I am talking about. The one you see below has carved the Earth up into the spoils of domination and war among human factions. Why is one half of Lake Ontario in Canada and the other in the United States? How
