One of the biggest challenges around #sustainability is achieving deep systemic change. More challenging yet is that people like us make up this immense system around us – people whose ideas, attitudes, and beliefs about what is and is not important, what is and is not possible, and what is and is not “the done thing” drive them. #SenseMaker offers us a path towards understanding and visualising those attitudes.

Today we revisit a pivotal SenseMaker paper based on #research carried out by Christine Wamsler and Gustav Osberg, among others, including several members of our team. In carrying out this research, the Lund University Centre for Sustainability studies and our #climate programme had questions like the above.

The paper, based on a representative sample of #Swedish #citizens, identified several dimensions of the connection between inner worlds, social practices, and meaningful action, noting that many of these connections do not flow in one direction and exploring how engagement relates to it all.
