Most of our work crosses disciplinary spaces, from #health, to #citizenengagement, human rights, culture and beyond – really embracing the essence of #complexity. But one thing that cuts across is our desire to make meaningful and positive change in the communities around us.

So we always get excited when we see #SenseMaker together with the words “to inform intersectoral, advocacy and community action.” We want to take the opportunity to highlight this work by ✨ The Illuminate Project, Denise Campbell-Scherer, Yvonne Chiu and co, who chose SenseMaker so that they could collect mixed-methods, real-time data as part of participatory action #research to explore the entangled and systematic issues that affect poor health in vulnerable populations in Canada.

A useful resource for co-design and analysis of SenseMaker data, with over ✨750 stories collected. Key findings include the impact of COVID-19 on destabilising family units, the syndemic effect of COVID-19 with pre-existing conditions, and structural barriers to accessing support. The team proposes various immediately implementable and long-term solutions to support family structures in the context of COVID-19 and ensure future health.
