Good evening everyone! Welcome to tonight’s Long Now Talk featuring Abby Smith Rumsey on Hijacked Histories, Polarized Futures.

As authoritarianism rises globally, the stories we tell about our history become battlegrounds for competing visions of the future. Historian Abby Smith Rumsey draws on 20th century Russian history to create a framework that situates current socio-political tensions & explains how increasing polarization could shape our future.

This talk is presented in partnership with the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences (CASBS) at Stanford University and features a Q&A with Rick Prelinger.
