Huge damage has been done. Learning from the mistakes of the past is a way to show the dignity of being human. Justifying, negating, denying those mistakes is an ugly way of obscuring the necessary learning. If people are afraid to admit being wrong/bad; dignity is double binded.

@jriles8 The epistemology is flawed in both cases, and probably it’s the same flaw. A hunger for measured control is not going to give rise to a substantial understanding of ecology — it is inherently a perception problem.
