Based on our policy strategy paper ‘Germany’s Path to Freedom Energy by 2030’, we believe it is possible for Berlin to become climate neutral by 2030. RethinkX has set out the basic principles that will be crucial to successfully achieving this goal.

We intend to work with partners over the next year to conduct a comprehensive study and produce a detailed roadmap for Berlin.

In our policy strategy paper ‘Germany’s Path to Freedom Energy by 2030’, we concluded that the whole country can reach net zero for electric power by 2030 and for all energy by 2035. This transformation of the energy system would happen for economic reasons and, at the same time, benefit every sector of society. It is possible to accelerate this timeline if Berlin pulls together and mobilizes people and resources to implement a focused but comprehensive set of actions.

To achieve success Berlin will need to follow a number of key principles, e.g. supportive regulation, energy rights and financial incentives.
